I just finished watching a movie with the best script I have witnessed in a very long time. These are getting seemingly very hard to find. I mean, Star Wars had a horrible script. It ruined it. I must admit that Hayden Christiansen's acting was also a contributor to the reasons why I didn't like it all too much, but the lines were very stilted and hollow.
Before I get eaten by die-hard War-Heads, I'll stop my criticisms. I'm a sucker for the first three, but deja vu just ain't what it used to be.
Remakes have a bad habit of being compared to their precedents, and, therefore, usually being criticised overly much and deemed as not good enough. A sad trend, especially with all of the remakes and movie adaptations surfacing nowadays.
But Spider-Man was good. The best comic book movie I've seen since Batman. The first one, I mean. I can only hope that The Hulk (Ang Lee, you've got high standards to meet), Daredevil (Ben Affleck? _Ben Affleck_? Is The Sum of All Fears any good?), Fathom (Jmes Cameron, don't cheese this up), and X2 are a fraction as good.
Howe'er, I haven't seen the original to this particular film. I'm very tempted to do so now.
If you haven't already, go see Ocean's Eleven.
I love these 'ultimate scheme' movies. Sometimes, the glitter and glow of visual special effects just doesn't compare to a good mental brain cramp, or the click of all the pieces coming together to make everything clear.
It just ... it makes me think, "Who thinks up this stuff?" And more; "Why are they allowed to walk free?" Geniuses. Master criminal geniuses. I can only shake my head and smile, laughing like the crook that got away. This is entertainment. Pure and simple. Dead-on one-liners. Simple jokes that make you really laugh. Cackling like a convicts as said convicts get away Scot-free.
Plus, there's the pure, unadulterated cool. This is just a cool movie. Left me in a very good mood. I'll be smiling about this one for a long time.
