So I spent the majority of my morning in a classroom discussion of incest. We're just starting on 'Tis Pity She's a Whore by John Ford, and it's a topic of much hot debate (there's an ironic turn, here) on whether the main plot is just exploitative sensationalism or if it's a fine work of dramatic art. There was an interesting hinge on the whole thing, stemming from the separation of reasons for incest as a taboo; there's genetic evidence aplenty that reproduction through incest is right out a bad idea, but no one in the class could agree on where the moral repulsion stems from. It was even postulated that perhaps, in the future of some societies, were the stigma of reproduction to be removed from the perception of relationships, then incest might become acceptable as a romantic bond.

Which meant that from that point on, I was quoting Wincest and MacManuscest fics in my head ad nauseum, and had to keep from naming bushels of Egyptian royal figures when the class came to the conclusion that all cultures have some version of ban on incestuous situations between brothers and sisters. God, I would have run out of fingers.

Geez. Closet pervert keener.

I really am twisted, no? It's just so much more fun.
