Feb. 2nd, 2010 09:05 amDay 13 - Meet... a random dragon, I suppose. Didn't post it when I drew it last night because I was just too dang tired to relocate my laptop and turn on the scanner.

Pencil and ink on paper. I suppose this guy looks a little like one of my other dragons... maybe the stubby little offspring of 'im. I like his teeth.

Feb. 1st, 2010 12:32 amDay 12 - Meet Prometheus. She'll show up in WanderLand at some point, and hooboy, she will not be happy when she does.

Yes, she sleeps in that. Those are her pyjamas. Sends an impression, doesn't it?
In other news, I've cracked open a new account at DeviantArt, and you can find most of my things under UrbanAmazon. The more adult things will be staying here, but all sorts of goodies, plus some prints, will be available through there. Enjoy, snoop around, and bug me.

Jan. 31st, 2010 03:10 amDay 11 - Here we have Cal... or, more appropriately, Calice. If there's anything that Cal loves more than experimenting, it's play. Cal doesn't see people as people, so why would he see gender as anything definite?

Pencil and ink on paper. And goddamn it, if the powers that be really wanted me to get to sleep at a decent hour on the weekend, it would stop showing The Mummy Returns on the History Channel (ironic, I know) starting at 2:30 when I'm honestly only trying to stay awake long enough to doodle. Gnarr.

Jan. 30th, 2010 02:50 amDay 10 - More Zavareau. Tightening up the blacks and the highlights. Painting with acrylics is like working with clay -- you go in, you add a little more here, you take some away, you add a little there, you take some away... it's either zen-like or the definition of insanity.

More acrylic on canvas. Yes, I know what time it is.

Jan. 29th, 2010 01:32 amDay 9 - Cal and Chris. If anyone could have a more messed-up acquaintance with Cal than any of the others (and lordy, there have been doozies), it would be Chris. Now, Chris is... well, he's older than he looks. Trying to describe he and Cal would take a while, and possibly comfort food.
And I'm tossing in a second drawing, though I didn't do that one today. I just wanted to throw in some more nudity. ( Naked people beyond the cut... )

Jan. 27th, 2010 11:46 pmDay 8 - Caliban and Jerome. To call Jer a boyfriend would be inaccurate. To call Jer an acquaintance would be falling short. To call Jer complicated would be... well, Cal doesn't do complicated. Cal does, however, do 'educational'.
Jerome is educational.

Jan. 22nd, 2010 10:54 pmDay 3 - Cal. Normally, Cal likes his hair long. It's a matter of appearing immediately different, immediately not-normal. He has, however, shown a bit of a habit of cutting his hair after having a really, really shitty day. And I mean really shitty.

Mechanical pencil on paper. Swing by WanderLand for more. The webcomic is currently on pause for reasons of kaput computers and art methods, but will return.

Jan. 21st, 2010 12:31 amSo, here's my new commitment project. Every day that I have access to the internet to do so, I will post some kind of art that I've either finished or worked on during that day. It might be a doodle. It might be a pony. It might be a single layer of a single colour that I completed on a larger-scale painting project. The point is that it is something.
I need this kind of discipline, this kind of structure, to make things, to practice, to kick my mind into something like innovation.
So. Here goes. Day 1... meet Kaius Dane. Main character in upcoming/newborn project. He'll be around.

Pencil and ink on paper. I've an odd mindset when it comes to elves. I kinda like it that way.

Jan. 18th, 2010 12:32 amHe is finished!

This is my third My Little Pony alteration, and dude if this wasn't addictive and fun. I mean, yes, I was calling curses down on costume designers and fuzzy YouTube videos, because damn it, there weren't all that many clear photos of his costume from The Zodiac Show, but I'm very pleased with how this turned out.
It was a learning experience, too. Here's hoping it'll get easier and crazier.
So, details... this started out as an unidentified My Little Pony 3rd gen toy, sculpted with Sculpey, painted with acrylic paints, garnished with gold crimping beads and chain and eyelets for his earrings, then glazed, and rehaired with the same pony's hair and a black wig.
Somehow I think I could have added more glitter.
( More photos after the cut... )

Jan. 10th, 2010 11:22 pmFie, fie, and a thousand curses besides on blurry YouTube videos shot from an upward angle with an over-fondness for the Blair Witch idea of steadicam and an obsession for cut-away shots in editing. And fire ants upon the unmentionable bits of those who design insanely decorative clothes for them. And fie again.
In other news, this weekend has put me at half-done my latest little project.

In other news, this weekend has put me at half-done my latest little project.

I made art! And then I coloured it!

I just realized a bit of a habit that I do when I use Photoshop. I don't paint with it, I draw with it.
Which sounds both pretentious and indecipherable for anyone who hasn't had the difference drilled into their skulls by various instructors over the years, but I'm not a painter. I've never taken any class in painting or colour use, or oils or watercolours... only drawing and drawing and drawing. Huh.
Anyhow, Seberak. There were conversations during this piece about how much it would suck to be his dentist. A conclusion was reached that the poor soul would probably just turn on the nitrous and pray for the best.
When I graduated high school, my parents gave me a gift of two bottles of champagne, with the intent of me saving them for a special occasion. One is reserved for finishing my degree. I have to apply to graduate next week. This, strangely, is the most nerve-racking thing I've had to plan on doing in a long, long time. Perhaps it's because it might just be the one thing I haven't done yet in my time in post-secondary. One way or another, it's getting done.
Then I just need to decide whether or not to drink my bottle of champagne in December or when convocation actually rolls around in May.
