Day of Karma

So, about that long update-post I was planing on doing ... here goes.
James and I adopted a cat. She's a brown/gray tabby and her name is Mya.
*makes 'myaaaaa' joke, oblique Trigun ref*
The whole process went pretty fast. James checked out Petcetera's adoption centre last week, got to know her a bit, then picked up all the information stuff and we called ahead to make sure she was still there this morning. Went, filled out the paperwork, stocked up on all the necessities, and brought her home about half an hour ago.
Adorable cat, maybe a year and a half old, very vocal, and very playful. Never owned a cat, but she's nothing like the one's I've house-sat before. It's adorable watching James try to pick her up properly ... he's hever had one, either.
And eariler today, James and I both went to our assigned places to vote, and then popped into the blood clinic to donate. Today's our day of karma, so it seems.
Funny thing happened when I gave blood though ... I bled very slowly. I wasn't even able to fill the bag all the way before they stopped to prevent clotting in the tubes. Never happened to me before, and I felt perfectly fine. When the nurse was fiddling with the needle to see if anything had dried up, air started bubbling into the tubes ... without the needle even coming out.
Bizarre. First thing I thought was, "Um, nurse? I think I've run out. Perhaps you could put some back in so I don't keel over by the goodie station?"
Might have to ask about that.
So. Detour Friday night. Apparently, I look good in a leather police cap and cuffs.
I've learned a lesson from that night, though. Never wear lined leather pants to a dance club ... if you're not planning to take them off. Overheated ... and ended up walking around in black-light reactive underwear for a good half of the night.
Figures. The night I take my pants off at a Kinky night is the night that hardly any of our usual clubbing buddies show up. Their loss.
I've got to stop undulating when I dance on the tables, too. Hurts my abs like a bitch in the morning, even though that may be a good thing.
Saturday was a rather spontaneuous Dim Sum Productions meeting. Even though I've hardly drawn since the end of classes, I'm glad at I'm not the only one. *shrug*
Reminded me ... I need to get into contact with Luba ... see if she's heading to Stampede the same time I am or if Con-Version is still a go.
Crap. I have to work late the night Finger Eleven's giving a free concert at the Stampede. My luck.
Yesterday was more or less like a date for James and I. Went out for pool, air hockey, beer, sushi, and Dance Dance Revolution. During a walk along the river, we've decided to try and make it a weekly event, if not more often. DDR's a good workout, but I must remember to wear socks and shoes ... not sandals. Captain Jack gave me a nasty blister.
Mya's still exploring and stuff ... and laying down in the middle of the kitchen. I like her. She was playing with a stuffed mouse back at the centre, flinging it into the air and rolling around like a puppy.
And now, to work.
It'll be good to have a pet in the house. I've missed it.

Was camping in Kananaskis w/Sean, so I didn't go to Dim Sum meeting (obviously), but I am really starting to crave sticky dough-balls... Mmmm. Dough.
I am @ Stampede on July 8th, for it is Sneak-A-Peak night!
Doors open @ 6 pm, however if you get there early, you will get in for free! Just walk on through the gates and presto! No $12 charge! :D
Get your midway rider card @ Safeway ($20, blue color), and then when you get to the midway booths @ the park, they'll exchange your BLUE PASS (dont get the red one) for an all-you-can-ride bracelet!
You comin?

Date: 2004-06-28 03:58 pm (UTC)And damn. You know, if you ever come to Seattle, call me. I will take you dancing. You rock hardcore, you really do. [still impressed because I am a big fat coward who would have sweated to death in lined leather pants LONG before I would have walked around in my black-light panties LOL]
As for the good karma/bad bleeding--it's impossible to guess really without having been there...but the most likely reason I can come up with would be that your vein collapsed. This isn't uncommon at all and particularly if you're a little dehydrated, you'd be prone to do this. Veins, by and large, don't like to be poked and they will collapse easily in some folks.
So when will we get to see pictures of Mya? I'm so happy for you. ;)
