No, my drawing class is not like that ...
Oct. 23rd, 2002 01:10 pmI'm starting to pick up nicknames wherever I go. In middle school, I was something very sexually derogatory when directed at a female. (Fuck you Brad Baranowski, Mike James, Justin Morton, and Steven Bounds.) In Midsummernight Tech, I was the Queen Bitch. Now, in Drawing I, I am either the Alpha Female or Dominatrix.
I'm sensing a trend. Not a necessarily bad one, but a trend.
Isn't it odd that some very happy people can write some severely depressing songs? Maybe it's just me, but I'm being quite the sadist to all the characters that live in my mind. Kouryou would kill me if she could ever get the chance. KT might, too. Ash ... well, Ash is very mad.
Heh. Wulf's the only one that's been spared. And Remarrynn. Lucky muses. Then, on second thought, everyone should try and kill them. They're the one who started it, being the muses and all.
Saw a flyer for a $10 000 art grant today. Must get more info. I have plans starting to form ...
College is really starting to catch up to me, ass well as the fact that I've been dragging my ass. Must find gearshift and give it a solid and positive yank. To anyone in high school who wants to study art as a career, be prepared. This is no high school course. You are on your own in nearly every sense of the word. Sympathy? Pity? Good luck. Your teachers will criticise you until you cry, and you will be the only one to blame if you fall behind.
Or maybe that's just me, and every other art teacher in the world is a lot nicer than mine.
Some people are talking about dropping the class. Just ... giving up. I don't get that, and I've had to hold my tongue on several accounts. If I say a single word, I become a hypocrite. Yes, it's unfair, but you are the only one to blame. You knew the commitment, you knew what you were getting into, so suck it up. Yes, that is a cruel thing to say, but it's the real world talking. Employers and commissioners won't care if you wanted to go to a kegger and therefore didn't finish your job. If you can't do it, they will take their money and find someone who will.
And the teachers do not hate you. Maybe they will never understand you and become your best friend, but they don't hate you. They criticise your art. They try and make you see what is wrong and improve it. That's what they're paid to do. Giving you a bit of a slap of reality every now and then might be the only way they can get you to wake up and smell the deadlines.
Am I being too harsh?
Am I being unrealistic?
Am I being a bitch?
... yargh. Class time. Time for Photoshop to be my bitch.
